Rose Colored Garden
(Deron Wade)
Deron Wade
Dedicated to all the soldiers who are fighting in the Iraq War, and to all of us who would rather live peacefully than brave the battle of tyrants.
Rose Colored Garden
Dear mother touch these tears are mine
And father hear I’m terrified
Miles away, my heart still feels the same
Please understand, I wish things weren’t this way
Mother I have seen families burned alive
Father I need your sanity and peace of mind
Everything I’ve learned about wrong and right
Has disappeared, as I try to win this fight
Rose colored garden, let me come in
I remember dancing in the years back then
Rose colored garden, a pretty face I see
Take me to a better place, where I can be ..not alone
But mother this smile on my face
Has left me behind as I try to keep pace
With this gun in my hand I celebrate
I’ve taken lives and learned how to hate
Trust me brothers you’re with me every day
Hope school’s going well I’ll be back some day
And father I hear your voice, let your gut lead your head
But I’m a soldier, blue, white and red
Rose Colored garden let me come In
I remember dancing in the years back then
Rose Colored garden, this beauty I see
How can I be here and see this soldier in me
40 years go by, I come home and survive
My brothers in the war, most lost their lives
I take a rose and place it by their name
The war has ended, yet I still feel the same
Rose colored Garden I feel the rage inside
Rose Colored Garden don’t let me burn alive
I have seen the fire, I have left the flames
But the war inside me still remains . .
Rose Colored Garden let me come in
A pretty face I used to know in the years back then
Rose Colored Garden please just go away
You can’t bring back what I lost that day
Where to place a rose, my single rose?
Where to place a rose, my single rose?
Wish that I could live with a single rose
Bury this for me, my sympathy
